I really enjoyed this book. James has been following this case for so many years and I have really learned a lot about this case from him and his research. I had not actually read this book, though. I run a true crime book club and we picked this book to do for June. It was really good, actually. It was nice to hear how he got involved and how he had lost himself while researching all this. He was candid and shared intimate moments of his life with us to show us how it took this toll on his life and marriage.

I can not wait for my club to discuss this book.

Marcel Ravidat, an 18-year-old apprentice garage mechanic, took his dog, Robot, into hills near his home at Montignac in the Dordogne region of southwestern France. There, the story goes, Robot ran into a hole created by a fallen tree. Ravidat threw some stones into the hole and was surprised that they seemed to travel a long, long way down. Returning with some friends and a teacher he climbed down the hole and began to explore.
